Melanie Price Steele was born in 1981 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Utah State University in 2002 with a degree in Print Journalism and English. Soon after she and her husband, artist Ben Steele, moved to the small coal mining community of Helper, UT, where a group of professional artists were living and working. The visual arts soon worked their way into her creative process.

Her body of work explores the commercial rhetoric of our billboard society; how the marketing and advertising we see everyday becomes a subtle part of our identity. Each piece combines hand cut, gessoed canvas with thinly layered enamel, acrylic and/or oil paint, abstracting that subdued noise which both enhances and detracts from our daily lives.
